This one isn’t about my classroom, but is an interesting opinion piece on immigrants in British classrooms. From what I’ve seen in American classrooms, things are very similar here as well. Not always, it’s true, but quite often.

Vocabulary Mishap

Today one of my students was trying to cram before her vocab quiz. She was trying to memorize the word “genial” by repeating it to herself.
This in itself would probably not have caught many people’s attention, except for the fact that she was mispronouncing it, and was repeating “genital, genital, genital, genital…” to herself.
