Well, school has begun again, and this year I’m teaching 8th grade English. The kids have been good (if loud and extremely energetic) so far. Today we were reviewing the writing process, and one of my students decided that I must really be an under-cover actress. Another one (while actually on topic, which happened at the moment to be the fluffiness of llamas), said, “We should compromise. Fluffy in the winter, naked in the summer. That’s how I roll.”
Discussing the benefits of shiny nickels, one of my students pointed out that you “can use them to blind people, and you can make friends with them and call them Carl.”
For the curious, my writing prompts for practicing the writing process today were:
“Are flowers pretty?”
“Are fluffy llamas better?”
“Which is better: a monkey made of watermelon, or a shiny nickel?”
“If you were a piece of silverware, which would you be and why?”
