George H. W. Tells It Like It Is

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

Once again, GHW has said what the other politicians have been thinking, but won’t say. In this case, Bush’s comments are about Hugo Chavez’s remarks before the UN.
Feel free to ignore the ill-informed lunatic arguments below the video, unless that sort of thing amuses you.

UPDATE 10/07/06 9.55AM: On second thought, if you want to avoid having to go somewhere else, here’s the video.

Pencil Throwing

Saturday, October 7th, 2006

One of my students was borrowing a pencil from another, sitting a couple of rows away. The other student got out a pencil, and then was trying to figure out the best way to get it to the first student.
Said the first student, “Just throw it. I’ve got two eyes.”

Andrew Sullivan And Subjectivity

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

I always enjoy a good theological or philosophical discussion, and I enjoy politics, so here is the ultimate compromise: an analysis of the theology (and philosophy) of Andrew Sullivan, a fairly well known political writer. This starts out as a review of Sullivan’s latest book (The Conservative Soul), and ends up with a total shredding of Sullivan’s theological and philosophical framework as well as his intellectual honesty. I love a good intellectual beat-down, so this was a lot of fun.

Reality VS. Media In Guantanamo

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

Finally, somebody with first-hand experience and no axe to grind is talking about Guantanamo. (Not only that, but it’s being done in a medium where the individual can correct any mistaken impressions created by the interviewer!) This should make for some fascinating reading as we get all the various parts of it.
Hat tip to Power Line for this one.

Outage

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

It seems ye olde server went mildly berserk there for a bit sometime this morning, and was out for a while. Just in case you were desperately trying to get my opinion on something, and couldn’t, and wanted to know why.
