We had a pretty spectacular thunderstorm here last night. I’m guessing upwards of 50 mph wind gusts here (and I’m guessing the winds were higher elsewhere in the greater metropolitan Shippensburg area, judging by the damage) and lightning striking at least once a second for at least 20 minutes straight. One of my students told me about how she stood in her kitchen and watched a bolt of lightning come in the window and hit the refrigerator. Power was out (outside of Shippensburg at least) for the better part of 3 hours most places, and in some places more like 5 1/2. I’m definitely tired from being up in the middle of the night last night — normally I sleep right through storms, but I couldn’t through this one — and all my students today were as well. Today would be a good day for a region-wide nap.
