Blogging To New Heights

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

I suppose it had to happen one day. I have now had a visitor to this website from a country I had never heard of before. It worried me that I had never heard of Niue before, but after taking a look at its entry in the CIA World Factbook, I understood why. In any event, I’m pleased to welcome my first Niuen visitor. For everyone who doesn’t know much (if anything) about the island, you can also take a look at the Wikipedia entry. Also, you may want to take a look at Niue’s tourist website. It looks like a gorgeous place, and if I had a couple thousand spare dollars to spend on taking a vacation halfway around the world, Niue looks like a great place to do it — definitely a remote place to get away from it all (The website says, “There are less than 90 hotel rooms in Niue, so sometimes the number of visiting whales out-number the visiting humans. Seriously.”)
Anyhow, that’s your learning experience for the day. ENJOY IT!

Quote Of The Day

One of my students was complaining about a purchase he had made…

“Did you ever get a Kit-Kat bar that was just solid chocolate? I was about ready to call the company. I paid 15 cents for this, and I didn’t even get a Kat. All I got was a Kit!”

This was the same class where one of my students was explaining to anyone who would listen about how when the bird flu comes here, we will have to take up arms against the rioting poor people from the inner cities who will come and try to steal our food.
