State Of The Union
Wednesday, February 1st, 2006I thought the State of the Union address last night went very well. Bush seemed to be in good form, and did a good job of explaining a number of things (including the NSA pseudo-scandal) quite clearly. The extent of Democratic disorientation on the matter is shown by John Kerry’s response this morning on NBC Today when he claimed that “53% of our children are not graduating from high school.”
This news may come as a bit of a suprise to the Department of Education. The only way that I think it likely that we would get anywhere close to that number of children not graduating high school would be if we included aborted babies, and even then it might be a bit of an exaggeration. I would check the numbers on that, but I’m researching this during my planning period at school, and they seem to have blocked the relevant census.gov pages on birth rates because the URL includes the word “fertility,” which seems to be a naughty word.
