This article is fascinating. Is atheism really being replaced by a nonspecific paganism? It’s possible, though it might be more obviously observable in Europe than in America, which maintains its nominal Christianity. I disagree that such a state of affairs would make things more difficult for Christianity; the rapid spread of Christianity through the Roman Empire shows an excellent example of why I think this. It’s not a very large jump to move people from believing in spiritual forces of one kind or another to believing in a God that created the spiritual realm. It’s considerably harder to convince someone to move from holding a positive belief that there is no spiritual realm and no God to believing in both. Anyhow, go read the article.
