This is a truly stupid idea. If something as obviously ‘free speech’ as blogs and email are suddenly regulated, what’s next? Instapundit has more. I’m all for making sure nothing unethical goes on during elections, but I don’t think that fining or imprisoning people who discuss the elections is really the way to go.
Makes this TTLB post look suspiciously prophetic — simply replace the acronym DHS in some places with the FEC.

Regulating Blogs?
Thursday, March 3rd, 2005Interesting Site
Thursday, March 3rd, 2005There are some fascinating color photos from the first World War here. I don’t know what it is about adding color that just makes things seem more real — black and white photos are allright, but you just don’t quite get the sense that things were just like they might be today: no sense of the reality of the scene you are viewing, or even of the humanity of the people involved. It’s too bad that color photographs took until 1903 to be invented.

Atheism On The Decline?
Thursday, March 3rd, 2005This article is fascinating. Is atheism really being replaced by a nonspecific paganism? It’s possible, though it might be more obviously observable in Europe than in America, which maintains its nominal Christianity. I disagree that such a state of affairs would make things more difficult for Christianity; the rapid spread of Christianity through the Roman Empire shows an excellent example of why I think this. It’s not a very large jump to move people from believing in spiritual forces of one kind or another to believing in a God that created the spiritual realm. It’s considerably harder to convince someone to move from holding a positive belief that there is no spiritual realm and no God to believing in both. Anyhow, go read the article.
