Wow.
Sunday, February 13th, 2005Lots of Work
Sunday, February 13th, 2005I just finished posting my Livejournal posts (my blog was on Livejournal before I got this domain) on this site, fiddled with refining the “About Me” link, and repairing the blogroll. Have a look around at it, and let me know if you find any broken links, stuff that doesn’t work, etc.
The Results Are In
Sunday, February 13th, 2005Iraq’s election results are more or less as expected. This will definitely be an interesting process to watch — I expect quite an elegant constitution to be created by these delegates. They’re committed to Sunni equality, even if the Sunnis tried to buck the system, and with advice from the US and many others in the rest of the world, their constitution will probably be strong enough to ensure that Iraq will stand strong as a state even with the divisions within it.
Rove Strikes Back
Sunday, February 13th, 2005We seem to be back to the part of the cycle where Democrats are convinced that Karl Rove is running everything. This article seems to show glimpses of paranoia about how much Rove actually does, but overall presents what is likely a fairly accurate view. Rove is incredibly important in the Bush administration, but not to the point of actually deciding policy. Bush still has the final say, but relies on Rove mostly to provide overall coherence to Bush’s decisions. Rove and Bush share quite a lot of political opinions, so it’s not really like Rove is suggesting a lot that Bush isn’t already in support of, or at least is near Bush’s position. From what I’ve been able see, Rove is not the mastermind behind the White House’s decisions, but is more of an ideological architect tying together the various political edifaces as Bush works on them. He’s the reason this administration has been so successful at choosing and following a single ideology — the mark of steady leadership.
