I thought I had posted this story earlier, but looking through my archives, I don’t seem to have done so. I can’t remember now why; either I
1) took it for granted that a professor would say something that stupid,
b) thought the story was fishy at the time, or
fourthly- read it and really didn’t feel like bothering to type something interesting to go with it at the time. I’d like to say it was the second answer, but it was much more likely the first or the final one.
